    Why Omitted?

    July 10, 2017 by Interstate2011

How come they never introduced acrylic paint to Jumpstart Artist? What other paint types could I be missing? I understand watercolor, oil, and tempera (which is made from egg yolks) were already there. But no acrylic?

For one, that was the paint we were using for pumpkin painting contests at my college, a community college for getting anyone of any age or grade level (children included) involved.

As I was saying before internet issues interrupted publishing of this, I was thinking there should have been a German Pavilion and an Italian Pavilion in JumpStart Languages, one: so children can learn those languages; and two: so Casey and Eleanor would have been in it.

Of course, with an Italian pavilion, that would have had two Italian stories, turning out to include the story used in all of the Pavilions that were in the game. That's right, "Little Red Riding Hood" originated in Italy.

I never copied the last try, so it got lost.

Of course, if there had been a Portuguese Pavilion, I propose that just like the English and Spanish ones were American- and Mexican-themed, the Portuguese one would be Brazilian-themed.

    Any comments about it?

For convenience, I'm going to try to make a comprehensive list of all the JumpStart playthrough videos I've found so far. They're pretty easy to find on Youtube, but I thought having links to all of them in one place would make them even easier to access.

In case anyone's interested, I created some online JumpStart puzzles at Jigsaw Planet. Check them out here. If you would like to play with a different number of pieces or change other options, simply hover over the puzzle image, hover over the arrow, and then hover over "Play as" - that will give you options to change. Digital puzzles can be extremely fun, so I hope you enjoy! I'll probably be uploading more in the future.

JumpStart games always want to run in full-screen mode, but on occasions, that might not be what you or I want. After a couple attempts of finding a way to run the games in windowed mode, I found a completely functional solution in the form of a handy tool called DxWnd. Download the program, run it, right-click the white area, click "Add", choose a name and path to the game executable (*.exe file), and then double-click the name (or right-click it and choose "Run"). Very easy and very handy! At least with the (mostly default) settings I chose, the end result isn't exactly like a "normal" window (I can't move it around, there's a strange black box behind it, and the minimize, maximize and close buttons don't appear until you click on the ar…

As most of us probably know, many classic JumpStart CD-ROMs come with a special feature: they're also audio CDs. Stick them in a CD player and you can listen to songs from the game. Well, today I made a weird discovery concerning the audio component of JumpStart Preschool (1999). If you listen to the CD using a computer program such as Windows Media Player, the album title is that of a completely different CD and all the tracks have completely wrong names that I would assume to be tracks on that CD. The songs themselves are perfectly accurate to the game, as far as I can tell.

I wonder what possible connection there could be between this "Mama's Boy" CD and JumpStart that would cause this to happen.

I woke up last friday morning and checked my FB News Feed. JumpStart is now returning to post new Features for the online game on their Facebook Fan Page, and Behind the Voice Actors Website is now beginning to add new JumpStart Games with the list of Voice Actors, Starting with JumpStart 1st Grade Math & JumpStart Adventures 4th Grade: Haunted Island.

The JumpStart FB Fan Page is full of People getting mad for their JS Account Membership. I hope the Team would fix the situation, as they are unable to talk to them previously.  Their last post was from August. At least they are going to continue JumpStart.

Each Month, World of JumpStart & JumpStart Junior are getting some Updates. You might need a fast Internet to download it. For Me, It…

    Reused JumpStart songs

    November 6, 2016 by Bluecake

I found a bunch of songs used in World of JumpStart that were previously from other JumpStart media.

So far I only looked at the Jukebox and the Movie Theatre, haven't really checked anywhere else in the game yet. At the Jukebox, you can listen to music, and at the Theatre, you can watch music videos.

I thought it'd be kind of interesting to identify where the songs were originally from. So, here's the list:

Title Used in World of JumpStart Original Title Originally From
ABC Harmony ABC in Harmony JumpStart Kindergarten (1994)
Art Friends Painting Ferris Wheel JumpStart Artist
Be Your Best Responsibility Song JumpStart Preschool: Who Left the Juice in the Caboose?

    JumpStart and Quiznos

    November 5, 2016 by Bluecake

I found some more info recently, it feels just a little disorganized at the moment so I thought I'd make a blog post before I edited any articles. So this is a bit similar to the JumpStart Dairy Queen toys, but concerns a different chain called Quiznos, which specializes in sub sandwiches.

In 2003, some JumpStart products appeared in Quiznos kids meals. I found the following image on an archived webpage from 2003 (from Quiznos website):

As you can see, the kids meal bag has Casey on the front, and there are JumpStart products featured, one of which is JumpStart 3 Ring Circus. From what I understand, there were several discs that could come with a Quiznos kids meal. It's pretty hard to make out the other images on the bag. I'm hoping to find …

    JumpStart concept art!

    October 27, 2016 by Bluecake

Recently I found some old JumpStart concept art on a website called trylonix.com! Trylonix Cooperation specializes in producing educational software, toys and games, and apparently they worked on some of the JumpStart games of the 90s. Kind of odd that I never heard of them before this while researching JumpStart, but here's their page on JumpStart products:

    http://www.trylonix.com/portfolio/jump-start-top-selling-edutainment/

It says Trylonix developed the very first Jumpstart game, JumpStart Kindergarten, in 1994, and they've worked on other games since (mostly those from the 'Classic Era' of JumpStart).

And then, there's a slideshow of concept art, mostly for JumpStart 5th Grade, but also for some other games as well. I thought that was a …

So in some games, like JumpStart Toddlers (1996) and JumpStart Preschool (1995), there are musical cues that play when starting each activity. Usually they're very short, something like a few seconds long each. An example of one is towards the beginning of this video, with the line "ABCDEFG, learn your ABCs with me".

For a few reasons, I was thinking of just adding these to the activity pages, under a "Musical Cue" header. Since they're part of the activity I think they're worth noting, but I don't think they really require pages of their own, seeing as how they're really short, don't serve any educational purpose and only exist as an introduction to the activity, and in some cases there aren't credits for these short musical cues. (Ex. the…

    Userboxes

    September 23, 2016 by Bluecake

Recently I did some work on some userboxes! You can put them on your user pages, blog posts, and even in comments. Userboxes are just meant to tell something about you. I decided to make some for the JS characters first. Here's all the userboxes I've made so far:

To add a userbox, type something like FavoriteFrankieAdvanced and then put the brackets around it. Each userbox starts with Favorite, then the name of the character, and then either Classic or Advanced or Modern (for the art style). When you're adding a userbox, don't type spaces between the words, and make sure to write first letter of each word upprecase, like the FavoriteFrankieAdvanced example.

Also, if you want to put anything after your userboxes, it's best to make a Clear st…

    Jump Ahead

    August 24, 2016 by PrincessRosalina

Alright, Jumpeez! I discovered a Website for Jump Ahead Games (JumpStart's European Version).

Jump Ahead is An Educational Series by Knowledge Adventure where Kids are learning new Educational Concepts in Maths, English, Music, Arts, Science & Geography. Unlike JumpStart, They have Different Voice Actors & Changes in Subject's Topics from the UK Curriculum.

    • In Most UK Adaptations, They changed their names from their Decisions. In Jump Ahead Year 2 (JumpStart 2nd Grade), Edison's name is Changed to Newton, based from Issac Newton. In Later Games (such as Jump Ahead Maths Year 2/JumpStart Math for Second Graders), His Name has been Reversed back to The American Name Version, which every UK Player know as Edison. He's also known as Philibert in…

I've sometimes experienced a rather frustrating and confusing issue when trying to run JumpStart games (usually ones released from 2001 and earlier). When I try to install the program, nothing happens. No error message or anything, just nothing. If I went into Task Manager, I would see some form of Setup that was clearly the JumpStart game in Processes, but nothing was actually happening. But what made this even more bizarre is that sometimes, if I waited a long time, the game would spontaneously start installing just like it should, and from then on everything worked perfectly!

Well, today I believe I have found the cause of my woes and the solution in the form of this Reddit page! Apparently, the JumpStart Setup is a "lower priority" for th…

I just realized that I've been editing this Wiki in earnest for about a year. Technically, I've been here since way back in 2011, but back then I didn't do much. It wasn't out of lack of desire, exactly; I've been researching the series almost obsessively since I was a child, and I'd long wanted to spew the knowledge I'd gained of the series onto the internet! It was because, frankly (or should I say Franklie? HA HA!!!!), it was all too daunting. As a knowledgeable fan of the series, I knew there was a lot to cover. And there weren't really any other active editors. It seemed hopeless. I was also frustrated by the fact that the creator of the Wiki had abandoned it; not that I'm saying he did something wrong, but I just really didn't want to …

I Want to Introduce JumpStart Games to Children who wants to Succeed in Learning. Most JS Games are released in 80s-2000s, and It's Okay to bring back the JS Experience. Recently I discovered an online quiz that is very similar to the All-Star Match-up Quiz found in the JumpStart Advanced games. I already posted a link to it on the JumpStart All-Stars page, but here is another link to it:

    http://reg.knowledgeadventure.com/Jumpstart/learningstyle/jumpstart_pop1.htm

It's essentially a personality quiz. The quiz will gauge what learning style you have, and which JumpStart character you match up to. It's short and fun. Here are my results:

My primary learning style matches up with Eleanor, the Reader. My secondary learning style matches up with Kisha, the Artist. (Can't really argue with that, two of my favorite hobbies are reading and drawing xD)

If you take the quiz, feel free to leave a comment about your quiz …

Lately, I've been marking quite a few pages for deletion. Every page that has been marked for deletion has the delete template, and can be found in Category:Candidates for deletion.

This wiki has many pages which are only one sentence each, and don't particularly pertain to JumpStart. My reasons for marking them for deletion are that they are not substantial enough, and the topic they pertain to can't be expanded enough to make them substantial.

For example, there exists a page on this wiki for the color red. It's not a character or a place, it's just the color red. This is the only content that page contains: "Red is a color in the JumpStart Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade."

Red, the color, is something that appears in almost all form…

Second, I've customized the wiki's theme. Now there's a new wordmark, background, and favicon. :) As a kind of artsy person, it does make me happier to see more color here. Feel free to comment and say what you think about the new theme!
