(Clicking on characters)

  • Cecil: I love living in this schoolhouse!

  • Cecil: Stop in and visit me sometime!

  • Cecil: I've lived here for years. In fact, they tried to get me to move when they built the schoolhouse. I stayed right here, and they had to build it around me!

  • Eleanor: I'm so glad you decided to join us in our preschool!

  • Eleanor: I love to read!

  • Eleanor: Cecil is my friend. Unfortunately, I can't fit in his house.

  • Pierre: A peanut butter cookie would hit the spot.

  • Pierre: I sure am hungry. I wonder if there's more peanut butter around here?

  • Pierre: [Laughs] Please stop! That tickles!

  • Kisha: You must see all the pictures I've painted!

  • Kisha: I want to be an artist when I grow up.

  • Kisha: I have to be careful around Casey because sometimes he knocks over my paints.

  • Casey: Yippee! I love preschool!

  • Casey: When the mouse is away, the cat will play!

(Interaction between Eleanor, Pierre, and Casey)

  • Pierre: Hey, Eleanor! Want to hear a joke?
  • Eleanor: Oh Pierre, not another one of your corny jokes!
  • Pierre: Why couldn't the flower ride its bike?
  • Eleanor: Because it lost its petals.
  • Casey: Haha! It lost its petals? Haha, that's so funny!
  • Pierre: Well, at least someone here appreciates my humor.

(Interaction between Eleanor and Kisha)

  • [Eleanor is reading a book. Kisha is peering at the book over her shoulder.]
  • Kisha: What are you reading, Eleanor?
  • Eleanor: It's a book about famous elephants throughout history.
  • Kisha: Wow, just think! You could be in that book someday.
  • Eleanor: Oh, I don't know about that...
  • Kisha: You can be whatever you want to be, Eleanor.
  • [Kisha goes back to her canvas.]
  • Eleanor: Hm, President Eleanor...that has a nice ring to it!

(Interaction between Cecil and Eleanor)

  • Cecil: Eleanor, is it true that an elephant never forgets?
  • Eleanor: Well, not all elephants are the same.
  • Cecil: Well, what about you? Do you ever forget?
  • Eleanor: I have a pretty good memory.
  • Cecil: See, I was hoping you could help me remember where I put my hat this morning...
  • Eleanor: It's on your head, Cecil!
  • Cecil: Wow! You do have a good memory!

(Interaction between Cecil and Pierre)

  • [Pierre reaches into a peanut butter jar, which he discovers is empty.]
  • Pierre: Hey...who ate all the peanut butter?
  • Cecil: You did, Pierre.
  • Pierre: That can't be! I'm still hungry.
  • Cecil: Precisely two hours ago, you raised your paw, which was covered with peanut butter I might add, and said, "We need more peanut butter, because I just ate the last!"
  • Pierre: Oh...
  • Cecil: Lucky for you, I just happen to have an extra jar.
  • Pierre: Hooray for Cecil!

(Another interaction between Cecil and Pierre)

  • Pierre: Knock knock.
  • Cecil: Who's there?
  • Pierre: Catch.
  • Cecil: Catch who?
  • Pierre: Haha, bless you!
  • Cecil: Cute! Very cute.

(Interaction between Kisha and Casey)

  • [Casey is on top of the bookshelf.]
  • Kisha: Casey, what are you doing up there?
  • Casey: Uh, I'm just, hanging out.
  • Kisha: You're stuck, aren't you?
  • Casey: Well...
  • Kisha: I told you Casey, anyone can climb up things. The trick is getting back down again.
  • Casey: I can get down! Watch me.
  • [Casey begins to climb down from the bookshelf. Halfway down, he slips and lands on the floor. Then he gets up and brushes off his shirt.]
  • Casey: See? I told you.

(Another interaction between Kisha and Casey)

  • [Kisha is painting Casey, who is posing with a ball under his arm. Casey bounces the ball, then changes his pose.]
  • Kisha: Casey, if you want me to paint you, then you have to hold still.
  • Casey: Are you done yet? I want to see.
  • Kisha: I told you already, you can't look until I've finished painting you!
  • [Casey bounces the ball away. He looks at the painting, which Kisha now holds behind her back. Suddenly he snatches the painting from Kisha, knocking over a cup of paint onto her in the process.]
  • Casey: Oops...it looks like I've finished painting you.
  • [Kisha tosses away the cup and wipes the paint off herself. Casey folds up the painting and tucks it into his shirt.]

(If the player remains idle)

  • Kisha: Go ahead and click on anything you like.

  • Pierre: Click on the question mark if you need help.

  • Pierre: Click on anything. You can see cool things and play fun games and activities!

  • Casey: Click on anything you want. Some things will move around. Other things will take you to fun games!

(Closing the program)

  • Eleanor: Bye-bye! I'll miss you.

  • Pierre: See ya later pal!

  • Casey: Are you leaving? Well, please come back and play with us soon!

(Listening)

  • Cecil: Listening is an important skill. By listening carefully, you can figure out exactly what I'm asking for. Let's look at the objects here.
  • Cecil: One is a ball, the next is a stuffed animal, and finally, there is a toy firetruck. If I ask for something that is both red and round, which one would you choose?
  • Cecil: Well, the ball and the firetruck are both red. The stuffed animal is blue, so we know it can't be the stuffed animal. That leaves the ball and the firetruck. The ball is round, but the firetruck isn't, so we know it can't be the firetruck. That leaves the ball, which is both red and round.

  • Cecil: Let's do another example, but this time, I need your help. Here are three more things: a pillow, a toy car, and a feather. Let's find the item that is both blue and soft. First, click on the items that are blue.

  • Cecil: The feather is white. Try again.

  • Cecil: That's right! The toy car is blue.

  • Cecil: That's right! The pillow is blue.

  • Cecil: Great! We know that it's either the pillow or the toy car. Now, click on the item that is soft.

  • Cecil: Close. The toy car is blue, but it is not soft. Give it another try.

  • Cecil: That's right! The pillow is both blue and soft. Great job!

(Matching)

  • Cecil: When two things match, that means that they look the same. Here is an example of two things that match. See how both stuffed animals look the same?
  • Cecil: These two stuffed animals do not match. See how they look different? They have different shapes, colors, and sizes.
  • Cecil: Here are all the stuffed animals we saw. These two look the same; they match, but these two look different; they are not a match.
